Who We Are
Friends of the Simpson County Library District Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. We support the Goodnight Memorial Library with projects, activities and functions to help fund and promote library programs such as the Summer Children's Reading Program, and many others.
What We Do
- Our board members meet monthly to conduct regular business and...
- Help the library purchase material & equipment
- Run the new FOL Book Store, seasonal book sales and maintain the Mary White Book Corner
- Organize volunteers from our supporter base to help in the book store, at book sales and other activities
- Conduct new & returning supporter membership drives
- Work with the local media & other entities to raise community awareness of our library's achievements and needs
- Produce & distribute the supporters' bi-monthly newsletter
- Supply books for the Fine Print Readers Club monthly selection
- Weekly maintenance of the intake of book donations for seasonal sales, the Book Corner, our soldiers overseas, community & senior centers, elder care centers, the hospital, local industry & correctional facility book racks
- Conduct holiday activities, volunteer appreciation functions & sponsor other special programs & events.

We Need Your Help
Don't just sign up! Get proactive, get involved! Take a couple of hours a week or even monthly, and support your library and your community! Meet new friends and have fun!
It's free to volunteer! No serious commitments, no long hours, no heavy lifting, no getting dirty, no working outside.
- Some examples:
- Year-round bookstore operation - a few hours a week or month
- Seasonal book sales operation, set up & tear-down - a few hours per week
- Weekly maintenance of incoming book donations - a few hours per week
- Holiday activities - a few hours seasonally
