Public Internet Access

The Goodnight Memorial Library is much more than just a place to check out books! Our Library features 17 public Internet access computers and is also a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Twelve of our machines are located on tables, one is a standing station (this machine has a 15-minute limit) for those who just need to check e-mail, and we have four 15.6" laptops for patron use. Laptop checkout has some extra restrictions, such as use of the laptops is restricted to adults aged 18 and over, laptop user must leave either keys or a photo ID, and use is restricted to the 1st floor. Laptops are only available for checkout if the twelve desktops are already in use. The laptops were provided by the Friends of the Library. See below for the complete computer and Internet use policy. Patrons are limited to a 1-hour block of time per day due to demand. Patrons can call ahead and make a reservation for the computers up to 24 hours in advance. The computers get very full very quickly after school lets out - use from about 3:15 to close usually requires a wait time, so plan accordingly!

Our Wireless Internet access (Wi-Fi) supports the 802.11b and 802.11g standards, so most modern laptops and smartphones should be able to connect without issue. Windows 7 and to a lesser extent, Vista, will sometimes require you to connect manually. Please see a member of staff if this is the case. We close at 8 p.m. on Mondays & Tuesdays, and 5:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. We ask all our patrons who bring in their laptops to please start getting ready to leave at least five minutes before closing. Our wireless signals are strongest on the 1st and 3rd floors, with the 3rd floor being the quiet study floor.
